Vending Rage
Team Size: 4
Engine: Unity
Role: Level Designer

Play as an angry worker who just put his dollar in the vending machine only to find out it's not working. Destroy the vending machine and get your snack within a VR playspace. As the lead Level Designer, my goal was to create a small office space suitable for VR play and to lay out "weapons" around the office to cause damage to the machine.
Concepts
The main focus was trying to make a level that was small for a VR play space. This was due to the fact not a lot of people can play VR games for an extended period of time. In order for this to work, I ended up creating concepts that mimicked a small cubical office, almost as if it were a small independent studio that only had 5 to 6 workers. Since the game was taking place within this small area, I also went ahead and thought up the idea that this office space would be in a tower that overlooked a city.

Graybox
Finding out which layout I liked better, I continued by adding in the "weapons" the player could pick up, such as; a mouse, keyboard, computer screen, cups, pencil holders, and a special reward a Sword. The idea of these "weapons" would be that they would break after several hits, making the player go out and search for more. This allowed for the player to be rewarded for walking around the level.

Final
In the final stages of the project, I moved each "weapon" into its own unique spot. Each "weapon" had its own health bar that would decrease and eventually break each time the player would hit the Vending Machine. They also had unique sound effects that were played when hitting the object. This was crucial for player feedback, allowing them to get a sense of wonder whenever they picked up a new "weapon".

To make the space feel more active, Co-Workers, who took inspiration from robots in Job Simulator, would also move around the level to fill out the space.
